Dr. Kara Paat embarked on a lifelong journey dedicated to promoting optimal health and wellness. Her passion for this field began at a young age, and she took her first step towards her aspirations by enrolling in the pre-medical undergraduate program at Lake Superior State University. This laid the foundation for her future endeavours. She was accepted into Northwestern Health Sciences University, where she earned her degree in Human Biology and her Doctorate of Chiropractic. After this remarkable achievement, Dr. Paat gained valuable experience working as an associate chiropractor for Dr. Michelle Greenspan in Asheville, NC, before taking the leap to establish her own practice in North Carolina.

While diligently attending to patients of all age groups, Dr. Paat pursued postgraduate training with the Carrick Institute for Graduate Studies working directly with Dr. Robert Melillo. Her dedication led her to receive certification with the American College of Functional Neurology in Child Development and Behaviour, which served as a crucial stepping stone for her subsequent training at the Institute of Neuro-Physiological Psychology. Dr. Paat enrolled in and successfully completed her post-graduate training, becoming a licensed INPP practitioner. She then traveled to Chester, United Kingdom and trained directly under the guidance of Sally Goddard-Blythe, furthering her studies and expertise to allow her to take on the role of Principal of Canada, as the only practitioner certified to practice and teach the INPP method in Canada.

In her continuous pursuit of knowledge and skill enhancement, Dr. Paat undertook post-graduate training to become a Certified Autism Specialist. She completed Autism and Applied Behaviour training at Ashton College, expanding her expertise in this area. Additionally, she obtained Rhythmic Movement Training (RMT) Level 1 & 2 and achieved Proficiency certification in DIRFloortime® training. These additional qualifications further augmented her ability to assist children in reaching their full potential.

During the autumn of 2020, Dr. Paat eagerly embraced the chance to bring to fruition a creative endeavor that had been years in the making. With great excitement, she published her inaugural children’s book, “I Don’t Want to Eat That.” Driven by a profound desire to inspire picky eaters, the book was carefully written and illustrated by Dr. Paat to foster healthier food choices among children. Its primary objective was to empower young readers to incorporate vital nutrients into their diets, thereby fostering optimal cognitive function.

During the challenging period of the global COVID-19 pandemic, Dr. Paat saw an opportunity to contribute her expertise in a different way. She applied to the Algoma District School Board as an occasional unqualified teacher, utilizing her knowledge and experience to educate and support children. This experience provided her with deeper insights into the unique needs of children, further enriching her professional journey.

Dr. Paat has generously volunteered as a board member for THRIVE and the Ontario Finnish Rest Home. She has also been a Certified Development NCCP Coach for Steel City Ignite Volleyball Club.

When Dr. Paat isn’t busy helping others, she seizes every opportunity to embark on outdoor adventures alongside her daughter Roxie, and her fiancé Dr. David Greenspan and his girls. Her more memorable experiences include sailing, hiking, mountain biking, climbing in Asheville and backpacking the 65km Lake Superior Coastal Trail. Such exhilarating outdoor expeditions bring her immense joy and serve as a source of rejuvenation in her life.
